Destiny

Today’s Daily Prompt:  Inevitable

Ah,

Inevitable it was

…. that they had but just met

…. to let their hearts connect!

Yet

Inevitable it was

…..that they never knew

….. a gift given to very few!

So

Inevitable it was

….. that they, as best friends, did part

…..  living n loving, they stayed apart!

Then

Inevitable it was

…… that their paths did cross

…… over the seas, miles across!

But

Inevitable it was

….. that at last their souls did bond

….. within their hearts love they found!

Alas!

Inevitable it was

……. that they had found it too late,

…….  to love again was not their fate

Thus

Inevitable it was

……. that fate n destiny did ordain

…….  to live in pain and love in vain.

Story Telling

Story telling is an art that is special – it is a God given  gift.

As a kid I heard stories  about Indian Mythology and Epics like Mahabharata and Ramayana from my grandmother. We used to visit her during the summer vacations and she would tell us stories every single night. They became a part of my life forever. My mother would tell me stories of the novels she would be reading at that point in time or of movies.

Having said that, I have loved and will always love stories that came to me from books.

A little Sparkle on a Still day

In response to The Daily Post’s writing prompt: “Sparkling or Still.”

What’s your idea of a perfect day off: one during which you can quietly relax, doing nothing, or one with one fun activity lined up after the other? Tell us how you’d spend your time.

Why oh why do I have to choose?

Can’t I just let my mind run loose?

Sometimes let it sparkle , sometimes still

Sometimes exotic, sometimes run of mill.

My idea of a perfect day, if I can have my way

From madding crowds , is to be far far away

On a rainy mushy day, give me a cozy corner

Some munchies, lotsa books and a crooner.

I am quite  happy on my ownsome

Even if  it may make me  lonesome.

Quiet companions – my phone and laptop

All this and I’ll be happy even on a rooftop.

But there are days when I want friends and fun

Where my voice can drown even that of a gun.

So my moody mind does the  final choosing

Of Sparkling days or still  waters- what’s amusing.

Cheers!!

Talking Point

Book conversation

I love conversations. Being a woman, that does not make me very unique, I daresay!

The question I am trying to answer today is how many people do I like in one conversation. The immediate and reflex answer is two. I love having a one-on-one exchange of ideas thoughts and  opinions.

I am a social person and I love a melee of a meeting as much as the next person. I love the bursts of activity at a lively party, where the voices get drowned in the buzz of music and clanging of glasses, where there are boisterous games – in fact I enjoy conducting them and participating and winning as well.  I love the ladies club meetings the book club meetings the weekly Tambola at the officers institute, shaking a leg in a group at the monthly social do’s and so on and so forth.

Whats The Good Word?

Prompt: Dictionary, Shmictionary

Time to confess: tell us about a time when you used a word whose meaning you didn’t actually know (or were very wrong about, in retrospect)

Confession time again, today!  I confessed just  yesterday I had never heard of Blood Moon till my son told me what it meant.

Well today’s prompt again takes me back to my kids… some of the words and expressions  they use so naturally, would often go right over my head unless I summoned the courage to ask them or surreptitiously look it up in the dictionary or The Miz Know-It-all Google Aunty ! For starters, for  a fairly long time, to me, LOL meant a word, not an acronym and was not very sure of the usage either. Same for ROFL, OMG, TGIF. Now I’m wiser. LOL !!

I’m not sure I am fond of expressions like MHRD etc, though. Continue reading

Word Magic

DSC06314   “Words are all I have”, goes a famous 80’s song. How true I think. Words are all we all have too.  All of us. To vent our feelings good and bad, to describe a day, to describe a person, a smell, a machine a book, a song, a bomb anything on earth.

Its only words that allow us to communicate with our family, our friends and sometimes,  even our own minds. Put your thoughts to paper and the mind feels lighter, problems look smaller, often much smaller. Leaders inspire a nation, singers and writers sometimes influence an entire generation through just words. Continue reading
