How orange is your sky?

How orange is your Sky ?

Orange enough to make you cry?

How orange is your sky tonight?

Does it make your thoughts more bright?

*

Mine has a darkish reddish hue

Perhaps a reminder of whats due!

Will my sky ever be bright again

Will I ever laugh with you again?

*

Hey, how orange is your sky today….?

We see the same piece of sky each day

Yet one of us sees it bright and orange

The other sees it as dark and strange!!

*

Where did we miss the bus ?

When did we cease to be us?

When did the friendly orange

Become so very dark and strange?

Prompt: Ready Set Done!!

Our free-write is back by popular demand: today, write about anything — but you must write for exactly ten minutes, no more, no less.

Well I had missed this prompt last time and had actually wanted to give it a shot. So here goes. Today is about a kind of love that can never be mistaken, never faked, never selfish. It can never be taken – it has to be always given.

They came into my life or rather into our lives, almost 3 years ago – two little bundles of joy, who were brought from different parts of the country, so that “they could meet and fall in love”, as my 13 year old daughter aptly pronounced. We had just lost a part of us , a wonderful being called Minnie..but more about her some other time. Continue reading

Tread Softly!

Prompt: Handle with care

How are you at receiving criticism? Do you prefer that others treat you with kid gloves, or go for brutal honesty?

Addition or attrition?

Is that the question ?

Or how much can I take?

Be it looks or a cake I bake?

BREVITY PULLS

“I would have written a shorter letter, but I did not have the time.” — Blaise Pascal
Where do you fall on the brevity/verbosity spectrum?

I guess I would like sit on the fence on this one. I feel I do not fall into either end as such. Let me hasten to add that I lay no  claims to being perfectly balanced. Never was, either!

Its just that it depends on my mood, the subject and the person. My letters per se, (when I used to write them and my mails today) could be anything from a few words to a few pages!! To be truthful,  I agree with the quote in the prompt, one needs time to edit.

Ta -Da!

 Prompt: To-Do? Done!

Quickly list five things you’d like to change in your life. Now, write a post about a day in your life once all five have been crossed off your to-do list.

I was sitting in my favorite corner the other day, and doing what I do best – “flashbacking ” my life …

I had always hoped for these things in my life..

1. To be beautiful….inside AND outside!

2. To never lie and never be lied to.

3. To never hurt and never be hurt

4. To be able to help everyone I would like to

5. To be able to make a difference to the people my little world as well as the lives I touch in life.

As I absently rubbed the little statue of Ganesha on my bedside table,

Lord Ganesha on My bedside table - Gifted by my daughter

a light seemed to emanate from it and lo and behold – my favorite God was before me!

“Tathastu”, he said and disappeared. Which meant “So be it”!

To be or Not To Be

Next in line

Given the choice, would you rather be heir to the throne, or the (probably) off-the-hook sibling?

Being Queen Bee sure sounds nice,

The adulation, the perks – all in a trice,

They do to one’s life, add sugar n spice.  Continue reading
