Key to A Heart

An old post recycled…..will be back later

Today’s prompt: Secret

GOLDEN KEY : You’ve been given a key that can open one building, room, locker, or box to which you don’t normally have access. How do you use it, and why?

golden-key

Have been thinking and thinking,

Cannot think of a single thing

As the DP suggests, I want to open best

WordPress may joke may say it  in jest!

If any building, room, box or any locker

Has a treasure not meant for my rocker

I want no part of it , so goes my own ditty ,

I have no want for any more in my kitty!

Now wait – if the key opened a troubled mind

Or a beautiful heart – Ah That, I would call a find !!

No diamonds, no rubies, no silver or gold

The wonder or joy for me, can ever hold,

That comes with lifetime friendships

With real, honest n deep relationships .

So, give me a key that I may unlock your mind

Such a key would I call “golden” and ever bind!

Ready Set Done – #100 Happy Days

I first wrote this on 28 May 2014……..  am re-blogging this here today.

Today I have a small story to tell……so here goes…..

A self-confessed  internet junkie, I was randomly browsing when I came across this site which challenged us to be happy for 100 days at a stretch. It also came with a statutory warning  that as many as 71% of the people who took up this challenge failed to complete it, citing lack of time. Life  is stressful at times and at that moment in time, I was going through a period of self doubts and apprehensions.  As I explored the site, I felt that it was worthwhile giving it a try,  I had nothing to lose but my apprehensions and anxieties!  The exercise required me to post a picture everyday, for 100 days in a row,  about something that had made me happy that day… sounded simple and yet 71% had been  unable to do it..Was I up to it? I decided to give it a try.

Out of Breath

OUT OF BREATH : We all seem to insist on how busy, busy, busy we constantly are. Let’s put things in perspective: tell us about the craziest, busiest, most hectic day you’ve had in the past decade.

Busiest day of the decade,

Difficult choice has to be made

Among a thousand days each one busier than the last

Dozen “me”s meet each other some days, each whizzing past.

********

Whose turn is it to take the stage today I wonder

The wife, the doctor, the daughter or the mother?

The social me, the chef or the interior decorator?

The surgeon, the friend, the sis or the mall locator?

Rushing against time
Rushing against time

Always looking for the elusive minute,

Today I’ve been granted all of sixty of it!

Quick quick – What do I do!  What do I do?

Elatedly rushing come thoughts , so so and so!

A few of My Favorite…..Peeves!

perfect

My title could very well have read “Confessions of a Perfectionist” if anyone who knew me well would have to suggest one. So as I said it’s confession time. Where do I start?

At home? When I wanted every meal to be tasty and warm, every room to be spic and span, every smile bright and cheerful?

At work? Where I hated failure of any kind by me, at judgement, skill or expertise …When I wanted every worker to be as diligent, sincere, efficient and compassionate as they could be. And me as well,  of course. Continue reading

Ta -Da!

 Prompt: To-Do? Done!

Quickly list five things you’d like to change in your life. Now, write a post about a day in your life once all five have been crossed off your to-do list.

I was sitting in my favorite corner the other day, and doing what I do best – “flashbacking ” my life …

I had always hoped for these things in my life..

1. To be beautiful….inside AND outside!

2. To never lie and never be lied to.

3. To never hurt and never be hurt

4. To be able to help everyone I would like to

5. To be able to make a difference to the people my little world as well as the lives I touch in life.

As I absently rubbed the little statue of Ganesha on my bedside table,

Lord Ganesha on My bedside table - Gifted by my daughter

a light seemed to emanate from it and lo and behold – my favorite God was before me!

“Tathastu”, he said and disappeared. Which meant “So be it”!

Ta-Da!!  There I was a beautiful lady with a beautiful heart! What a combo! Continue reading

To be or Not To Be

Next in line

Given the choice, would you rather be heir to the throne, or the (probably) off-the-hook sibling?

Being Queen Bee sure sounds nice,

The adulation, the perks – all in a trice,

They do to one’s life, add sugar n spice.  Continue reading

My world
A card made on Mother’s day

OUT OF BREATH: We all seem to insist on how busy, busy, busy we constantly are. Let’s put things in perspective: tell us about the craziest, busiest, most hectic day you’ve had in the past decade.

What actions do you do to become part of your world?

I wake up

I become reborn Continue reading

CAN WE HAVE IT ALL ?

“I don’t think women can have it all, you just cope said Indra Nooyi, one of the world’s most powerful women the 58-year old Chairman and CEO of PepsiCo and mother of two daughters on an interview earlier this week…….

It set me thinking…how do millions -including yours truly – of working women “cope”? I decided to pen a few thoughts on this with regard to my own life. I read somewhere that one has to be a contortionist to play all the roles life demands. To an extent, I guess it’s true especially if you are a working mom.

There is no magic formula to decide how much time is too little and how much is too much whether its the time you give to home or to work. Each one has a different type of job, different deadlines, and different family commitments. How one integrates all these into a  meaningful and fulfilling balance is what the whole journey is about.
