A list Incomplete

In response to The Daily Post’s writing prompt: “The Object of My Dejection.”

Tell us about the object of your dejection — something you made, a masterpiece unfinished, or some sort of project that failed to meet your expectations. What did you learn from the experience? How would you do things differently next time?

Maa durga images

This list- where would mine be  beginning ?

That forgotten unfinished oil painting?

The blue cardigan awaiting its collar?

The value of the rupee to the dollar?

The Lil’ pile of books I have yet to read?

The jewellery I never started to bead?

The post PG Study leave that I did not take?

The lovely cakes I wanted to learn to bake?

—–

The holiday abroad Rajiv and I had planned?

The daily walks we had planned hand in hand?

The extra  minutes I wanted to spend with my son?

The movie we were to see together on television?

The music classes I missed with my dear daughter?

That were planned weeks ago, now seem to matter!

————–

This list may never end, But  for every list of dejection,

There is another list,  a longer list of of joy and affection!

The love and  tender warmth in my husband’s eye

The happiness in a friends voice, no money can buy.

The twinkle in my darling  daughter’s eye,

The spring in his step as my son does fly!

The blessings of my mother feeling cared n loved

The smile of a patient , the bundle of joy she held !

———

On that “#100happydays” moment

I hereby end the daily post Lament!

Language Asst

In response to The Daily Post’s writing prompt: “The Language of Things.”

You have to write a message to someone dear to you, telling that person how much he/she means to you. However — instead of words, you can only use 5-10 objects to convey your emotions. Which objects do you choose, and what do they mean?

This prompt is rather difficult. How can one ever convey one’s emotions through things? If one does have to, especially to someone away from you … I would use these .. Words create magic and nothing conveys emotions as well as the written word… To me my mobile and laptop are “the language of things” … to so many many people .. a few special people, my family , my friends. Maligned they may be , but they keep me in touch with my own emotions as well as my loved ones and well wishers

Another way I express my love is through food.. and I love cooking for my friends and family…especially the ones who visit infrequently. Knowing what they like, making it with my own hands and then watching it disappear is something I love.

Music is the food of friendship  too and many a time I have used and enjoyed this on my phone and shared it with friends.

Thoughts words music messages and  mails …keep a relationship alive and more so a long distance one.. and so here’s to those special bonds.. may they last forever and ever!!  I hope these pics convey the message to the ones I care for..

Ripples and Reflections
Ripples and Reflections

Wow ! A dream come true!! What could be better?

A ready to occupy country house first on the letter.

With  a library, an all night cafe and a home theater

The best of staff, the best of linen all causing a flutter!

From this lovely home, in a long sleek swanky shiny car

I would weave my way to the latest designer store  afar!

Rubies, pearls  n the long-awaited sparkling diamond necklace,

All in due time would in my treasure trove find a pride of place!

Shopping done, swathed in the best designer gown

To my waiting yacht I would take the road downtown.

And undergo in its spa a luxurious make-over,

As  I allow the magicians there  to take me over .

To look and feel like a million plus  bucks,

My next stop – a few ‘instant’ tummy tucks.

The day culminating in an evening feeling divine

Amidst roses music, dim lights and exquisite cuisine.

As I magically find I have  nimble feet

I and my love would dance to every beat.

Money cannot buy happiness they say?

They knew not where to shop and stay!

A spendthrift I am self confessed and accused

No better way  to spend a day than discussed!

So bring it on, please bring it on

Let the music play on and on!

Retail therapy brings such untold joy

Would love to do this again and enjoy

Thank you WordPress for this lovely fluffy dream

May you bring more and more I daresay and scream!

Good night…..

all good things

I should have spoken of abstract options and emotions and all things nice … but today this is me ….. dreaming of material things and unapologetic about it!  Ha ha!

My Mind

In response to The Daily Post’s writing prompt: “One at a Time.”

Today, write a post about the topic of your choice — using only one-syllable words.

golden-key

Are there any takes

As strong as a mind?

It  breathes and breaks

It is but one of a kind!

To the thoughts it locks

To the doors it knocks!

An ode I give an ode I  find

To the mind, oh my mind!

Following my Gut

In response to The Daily Post’s writing prompt: “Gut Feeling.”

When’s the last time you followed your instinct despite not being sure it was the right thing to do? Did it end up being the right call?

Oh I know the feeling – the gut feeling

Even as this very prompt , I am reading

So often as my heart and head debate

I can feel the logic and reason abate.

Across the Rainbow Bridge

http://dailypost.wordpress.com/dp_photo_challenge/gone-but-not-forgotten/

She came into our lives as a little bundle of fur.  Barely a month old, she stole our hearts forever. My Brother in Law found her for us and we fell in love with her. My children grew up with her. She was just a few months older than my daughter.

Minnie was the the most affectionate souls I have ever met. And yes she was  a gentle soul . My son was as attached to her anyone could ever be and a refuge when he was troubled. She would know when any one of us were feeling low and her simple presence was enough to make us feel comforted and yes, loved. Whether it was Rajiv me or our kids. Continue reading

Made It!

In response to The Daily Post’s writing prompt: “Make It Anywhere.”

*******

I guess for this post I have  no option  but to turn

To a place in time when there seemed to be no return

One in hand, one inside, as from patients and books

I learned to learn – the scorching pace, the tired looks

The hurried days, the ” all-nighters”, the missing meals

Deadlines to meet, the travails and yes laughter peals

As I gladly  put  my aching  head to a  soft pillow

I would suddenly sit up and think a thought, mellow.

——–

Had I felt the life inside today

Had I counted the kicks or

Had the hectic day robbed me

Of savoring life that was going to be!

That made me think ever so often

“If I could make it here

I’ll make it anywhere”

At last the day did come when

In my arms was a precious one

And a few days, nay, weeks later

A very  precious sheet of paper!!

If I can make it there, I’ll make it anywhere,” goes the famous song about New York City. Is there a place — a city, a school, a company — about which you think (or thought) the same? Tell us why, and if you ever tried to prove that claim.

Best friends Forever?

In response to The Daily Post’s writing prompt: “Wronged Objects”

If your furniture, appliances, and other inanimate objects at home had feelings and emotions, to which item would you owe the biggest apology?

Winners are

My bedside table is my best friend as well as my “bete-noir ” I need a lot of stuff  on it – from my mobiles and  land line phone to my current book , water, alarm, statues of my favorite gods, a notepad and pen – I want them all within “arm reach”. Add to that a pile of my favorite books, my laptop and charger and I  realize  my bedside table takes a lot from me. I have given it a couple assistants (read extensions) but manage to crowd them as well!

So I guess if I want to remain best friends forever, I owe it  an apology for  always cluttering its surface so much…. yet I can not think of life without my bedside locker / table – my lifeline as I settle into my favorite corner in the house… my side of the bed!

My sincere apology –  looking forward to a lifetime of togetherness!

A Small Win!!

In response to The Daily Post’s writing prompt: “Winning Streak.”

What’s the longest stretch you’ve ever pulled off of posting daily to your blog? What did you learn about blogging through that achievement, and what made you break the streak?

I have been posting almost daily for more than 2 months now, but it was the NaBloPoMo that has made me post regularly to my blog for the past 30 days at a stretch.

In reality, I have not been able to understand the importance of the daily blogging habit. Well I enjoy writing and so I do not mind doing it but why should it be a must ?  I have taken the #100happydays challenge as well and that has made it easy to post everyday too.  When I have something to say or share, I  enjoy doing that. The Daily Post has given me  adequate inspiration or I have interpreted the prompts in my own way.
