Following my Gut

In response to The Daily Post’s writing prompt: “Gut Feeling.”

When’s the last time you followed your instinct despite not being sure it was the right thing to do? Did it end up being the right call?

Oh I know the feeling – the gut feeling

Even as this very prompt , I am reading

So often as my heart and head debate

I can feel the logic and reason abate.

——-

As my thoughts do battle and  I trust my instinct

As a doctor, a science student this must be extinct.

I know this and yet I can possibly never comprehend

Why my gut feeling leads me  to many a “logical” end!!

——-

A contradiction, well isn’t life itself often one?

Have we mastered the mysteries , has anyone?

Many a time it is that my heart is the real winner

As my poor head and logic is the well fought loser!

———

No regrets – I have often gone where angels fear to tread

No lifebuoys, no cushions yet I do not land on my head.

And for that, grateful I always am and always will be

On that note , I say Adios !  Let me be the Illogical logical me  !!
