If Tomorrow comes

In response to The Daily Post’s writing prompt: “Under the Snow.”

You were caught in an avalanche. To be rescued, you need to make it through the night. What thought(s) would give you the strength to go through such a scary, dangerous situation?

As on my cold and freezing bed I lie

My life flashes before my inward eye

I see me in a cozy house waving bye

To my mom as off to my school I fly

My sisters, my first best friends, and I 

Weaving together, a colored tapestry.

—

I grow up – meet my  dear soul-mate

We in each other, find our happy fate

Hand in hand we create a little nest

A lil  place to laugh, cry and rest.

A little wait and a little surprise

And our happiness is on the rise.

——

A few dark clouds darken the horizon

And I realise life is not just plain fun.

I have made my mistakes and my eyes do blur

Some I have paid for, some I am yet to conquer.

——

If tomorrow comes, I hope to find an anchor

In some little ways to give me a succor

In overcoming my blind spots

In finding all the bright spots.

If tomorrow comes, may I be a better human a better me

A purer heart, a stronger mind, a greater will to “be”

If tomorrow comes, may it never ever find

My wonderful family in a bind of any kind.

If tomorrow comes, All I want, all I ever want to see,

Those  dear, dear faces laughing in unrestrained glee!

If tomorrow comes, may I enjoy the warmth and joy of being alive

The worth of a smile, a tear, a wish, a fear -all saying- “I’m Alive”!

    This is a really moving poem, I love your photo at the end, your family look so beautiful, amazing mother (you have fed them well with your cooking skills!)

    Aww…such heart touching lines…I can feel a lump in my throat .. But you have a lovely family and I am many more wonderful years to realize their worth and partake in their joys ! 🙂

    Ah, found it, I decided to reread all your posts to look for a better me and there it is lurking! I read your post and enjoyed it, but when I wrote my post I did not have the phrase in my mind as a direct thought of yours. It is amazing the power of the written word, I do believe that it must have entered my subconscious, and was then completely unconsciously came out in my writing. I hope you don’t mind that I have used the same phrase?

    No avalanche can bury the warmth of your heart, your colorful zest for life and your bright, pure, positive, caring and giving attitude, which shine and radiate the warmth of a million suns causing the tons of snow you are under to melt instantaneously and giving all of us who are recipients of your unbounded love, boundless joy and unrestrained laughter for ever.
