Sounds Right
This is clearly subjective, but some words really sound like the thing they describe (personal favorites: puffin; bulbous; fidgeting).
All of us love to express ourselves and the English language has no dearth of words for us to do that with. Yet all of us have our little words that talk to us in a language of their own. These words are like brand recall – an instant recall of exactly what we want to say or hear springs to our mind on reading or hearing that word. Or perhaps there it brings to our mind the person who uses them most often or a happy memory or even a sad one, for that matter.
If I were to list a few, what would they be?
“Comfort level”- it immediately makes me think of friendship, security , a warm blanket in winter , a cool glass of lemonade in summer, dark sinful chocolate at midnight and a dear dear friend to share it with.
“Bubbly” – used to describe a personality invariably conjures up the image of a bright smile , peals of laughter and twinkling eyes…
“Sustain” – to me,is nurturing and a sense of ‘forever’…
“Radiance” – on a face speaks to me of inner beauty that lasts and lasts and reflects on a beloved face…
“Love” – an universal favorite I’m sure, used to describe the feelings of a new mother with a babe in her arms to a lover’s passionate declaration to a wistful remembrance of a past love.
“Sunshine”- brings to my mind an image of brightness and happiness- a lovely nickname for someone you love
“Mellifluous”- strains of a favorite “nightingale” singing a golden oldie.
‘Poignant” – a rich word filled with suppressed pain, always there but never expressed – evocative and descriptive.
“Gloomy”- speaks of impending doom, darkness and death.
“Multi-tasker” sounds just right for today’s woman from the boardroom to the bedroom.
“Moley”- a special endearment in Malayalam an Indian language
P.S. I would love hearing your favorite words… that “sound just right”….any takers? Please add them in the comments below

And you are a true concoction of all these words put together except ‘gloomy’. Your thoughts personify the one & only “you”.

It’s too bad mellifluous doesn’t get more mileage. It’s a good word
