Edge of the Frame
Prompt: We often capture strangers in photos we take in public. Open your photo library, and stop at the first picture that features a person you don’t know. Now tell the story of that person.
My story is about the person clicking the pic.
Who is she?
I have lived with her from the beginning of time as I know it on earth… yet do I know her?
How often she surprises me……
she does things I would never think she would
she thinks thoughts I never thought she would
she wears masks I never thought she needed
she keeps secrets I never thought she would
she has desires I never thought she would
she loves in a way I never thought she could
she hurts and gets hurt in way I never thought she would
she gets moved by things and people I never thought she would be
she annoys and gets annoyed by things I never thought she would
she reacts and interacts in ways I never thought she would
she works harder than I thought she would
she laughs more than I thought she could
she sometimes cries more than I think she should
she balances more than I thought she could
I hope to unravel more of the mysteries in that head….
know her better than I know her now.
Understand her more than I do now.
“She” is my best friend after all…. for life.
As “the person in the pic ” is “Me”!

Yes…being our own best friend, and sometimes our own parent, is one of the best things we can do for ourselves. I often say to myself when I am pushing myself too hard, or angry at myself for some mistake, “Now if you were your own mother (or best friend) what would you say to yourself?” It gentles against being too hard on myself. Good post.
